Largest Neolithic site on Anglesey Discovered

An important neolithic site has been discovered by archaeologists surveying the site for a new school.
Anglesey has more than 120 ancient monuments but this latest find has proven to be the richest. The Llanfaethlu site, which appears to have been in used for more than a 1,000 years, has revealed some of the best preserved houses in Northern Wales. To date less than 5 neolithic houses have been found in Northern Wales, Llanfaethlu has added 3 more and is the only site with more than one. In addition more than 2,000 artefacts, some as old as 6,000 years, have been found and remains from seeds and nuts are helping researchers reconstruct the Neolithic diet.
