Earliest Gun Flints Discovered

Gun flints were thought not to have been used until the mid-seventeenth century, but a new find at the stronghold of Clan Morrison on Dùn Èistean excavation

has unearthed gun flints dating to the sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries. Other finds from the site indicate the participation of the island’s residents in maritime trade.
